A Meditation For You

 

Follow Your Heart

When you are not sure of what you want to do, ask yourself, "Will I love myself if I do this?"

Sometimes you may feel torn between different possibilities or not know what you want or if what you are about to do is the right thing. Perhaps fear of making a mistake is holding you back.

Within your heart center is a deep knowing that can be accessed with this simple meditation exercise.

When you are not sure of what to do, simply ask yourself:
Will I love myself if I....
... Eat this?
... Buy this?
... Do this?
... Say this?
... Go along with what someone else wishes?
... Set boundaries?
... Etc.

Sometimes it is easier to recognize what is best for you if you reverse the question, for example:
Will I love myself if I don't....
... Eat this?
... Buy this?
... Do this?
... Etc.

Often you will immediately have a clear answer of "Yes" or "No". The answer may come as a feeling, you may hear the answer inside, or you may have an image representing the answer. Play with this, experiment. If you don't get a clear answer, sometimes you simply have to do one thing and see what happens.

Connecting with your heart gives you a feeling of empowerment, self-respect and integrity. Even if later you think you made a mistake, having connected to your heart will give you a feeling that you cared for yourself or others in the best way you could. Whether you are satisfied or dissatisfied with the choice you made, you are becoming more sensitive to your own feelings of what is good for you. Eventually you will come to a deep trust in yourself.
